Ways We Give Back
Amaranth believes that giving back to our communities is vital. Our values revolve around promoting sustainability, supporting local initiatives and the greater good of our planet.
Our customer rewards program has given $76,000 for all stores in 2020. Amaranth has given back approximately $1,200,000 in point value since we started the initiative.
Below are charities that are supported by Amaranth and the Klatt Family Foundation. The Klatt Family Foundation gives back over $20,000 to these charities of choice each year. These programs and institutions that reflect similar values to our company or have significant meaning to us.
LOCAL CHARITIES & FOUNDATIONS
Amaranth and the Klatt Family Foundation have donation initiatives throughout the year that go to the Calgary Food Bank, Calgary Humane Society, the Meow Foundation and the Veterans Poppy Fund.
To donate to any of the above charities and organizations, visit their websites or stay updated with our social media to be informed when we’re running charitable promotions.
Every 3 months, Amaranth Foods donates to one charity of choice. 1% or more of Amaranth’s profits are pooled and split into funds for the selected charities for the year.
This month, Amaranth will be donating to Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) a national mental health service provider dedicated to serving:
Trauma Exposed Organizations (TExO),
Trauma Exposed Professionals (TExP),
and their Trauma Exposed Families (TExF).
WWC specializes in providing culturally informed services that utilize a combination of education, counselling, and training approaches to support resiliency and recovery from post-trauma injuries.
Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal
In recognition of the urgent need for emergency assistance created by the conflict in Ukraine, Amaranth is supporting the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal through the Canadian Red Cross and the Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation.
The funds will aid individuals in Ukraine who are currently displaced. The funding provides food, shelter and water to those who need support.

Calgary Reads Society
Calgary Reads is an early literacy organization. They believe all children should have the opportunity to experience the life-changing magic of reading. Through their programs and initiatives, they help families read together and inspire every home to be a home that reads.
Reading is a fundamental skill that has a profound impact on our lives and it begins at an early age. When you read aloud to a child, you open the doors to new worlds, new perspectives and new opportunities to grow. The Calgary Reads Society believes every child deserves to experience the benefits reading brings.

Highfield Farm
Highfield Farm is a project of the Compost Council of Canada and the City of Calgary. It is located on a 15-acre piece of underutilized space in the industrial area in Calgary. Through land revitalization, regenerative food and community building, Highfield Farm is transitioning an underutilized brownfield site into an active urban community farm hub.
Amaranth supports Highfield Farm with donations through the Parks Foundation Calgary. Parks Foundation Calgary takes on projects to restore and create spaces within local communities. When our parks thrive, we all benefit and our city becomes a healthier, more vibrant place to live, connect and succeed.
Doctors Without Borders Canada
At the core of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)'s identity is a commitment to independence, neutrality and impartiality. MSF’s actions are first and foremost medical. Quality medical care for the individual patient is central to its humanitarian objective.
Doctors Without Borders seek to provide high-quality care and to act always in the best interest of patients; to respect their confidentiality, their right to make their own decisions and above all, to do them no harm. When medical assistance alone is not enough, they may provide shelter, water and sanitation, food or other services.
